July Model of the Month, Christine!

Where are you from?

I'm from Manhasset, New York

How did you get started in this field?

So, I feel like my story is a perfect example of how everything amounts to motivation: When I was in high school, I was very involved in theatre. I worked so hard and went on audition after audition. Finally, my theatre teacher said to me, "you're just not that talented, you'll never make it!"

To prove him wrong and myself right, I decided to get professional photos and a model agent .. and within months I started to get bookings! All it really takes is motivation and confidence!

Who are some of your favorite icons that have influenced you?

One of my photographers, Yolanda Perez, has influenced my immensely. Not only is she and every member of her family a successful model, but she knows exactly how to shoot lifestyle photos that get you work.

Also: I want to make an important point: there is no cookie cutter model. We come in all shapes, sizes, colors, backgrounds, etc. I could say my icons are Giselle or Adriana Lima (whom people have said I look like), but I and the models I've spoken to at shoots are the real icons. They are real people who have a look that will sell! Be blessed with what you are, what you have, and be confident because that is what will make you successful in this field!

Hobbies?

I love to workout, travel, do makeup, play the piano, and write.

I have also created an Animoji for kids that teaches Spanish. It's a lot of fun making posts for her and I especially love making my students enjoy learning.

Career highlights?

Although I only do this part-time, as I'm also a Spanish teacher and a makeup artist, I have done numerous print ads that I'm really proud of.

Some bookings include the cover of Parade Magazine, Bridezilla campaign, music videos, toy boxes, numerous infomercials, the total gym, live on QVC, and a major campaign for It Cosmetics. My point is: even if you don't do this full time, you can still succeed!

Long term goals?

My long term goals are to continue to be as active and successful as I have been, even though I can only devote part-time to it, although for you teachers, for the summer and holiday breaks, you can devote a lot more than just part time!

I've also decided to start doing more behind the scenes work, as a makeup artist, a booker, and client relations liaison. I believe that in order to be truly successful in this business, you need to understand all aspects of it!
